Kimberley Bailey
Kimberley is 19 and studied the BTEC National Diploma in Media at Sussex Downs College last year.
It’s no surprise to learn that Kimberley’s main specialism in her second year was radio - she definitely has the voice for it. Kimberley gained her radio experience as part of a three-day long broadcast for Eastbourne Youth Radio (EYR) and Sovereign during which she was the main presenter of Battle of the Bands. Speaking of which, bands are one of Kimberley’s favourite subjects - “I’ve been going to gigs since I was 12!” she says.
The Battle of the Bands transmission involved hosting and presenting judges, musicians and other presenters. She spent several hours in front of the mike and had to stay awake all night!
While she was studying, Kimberly also took part in lots of extra curricular activities including a fashion show and a film - a documentary on the MySpace phenomenon which she co wrote and spliced together. She also worked as creative director on the annual college magazine - TAG.
Kimberley’s ambition is to work in print journalism. She’s just heard from City University, London that she has a place there. But before beginning uni Kimberley is planning to travel to Africa and hopes to work in an orphanage in Malawi for a month.
